Nurse Recognition Event at Hopfer
by Joanna Scalabrini - Friday, May 11, 2012, 09:59 AM

We spent the last night and this morning talking about what a great gathering we had at Hopfer yesterday. It was our best ever, thanks to you.    We have the greatest students; your enthusiasm, your positive energy just permeated the whole event.  For those who didn't attend you missed a great time.

We raised $500.00 in the two Nurses House raffles, plus the $150. donated by a Hopfer alum- so we'll be sending $650.00 to assist nurses in need.  Thank you so much. Thanks too; faculty & staff who contributed prizes.

I am continuing my celebration of my 10th anniversary at Hopfer by putting the name of every student into a raffle of the ever popular ipod.

The following sts have certificates to pick up in student services

M. Nair, C Vaughn, M Whenner, C Doherty, D Ratoballi

Research poster certificates will be distributed in Nur 3

Mount Vernon Parking meters in operation till 8pm starting May 1st
by Joanna Scalabrini - Tuesday, April 24, 2012, 03:32 PM

MOUNT VERNON — The rising price of gas has made it more expensive to drive your car. Now the city of Mount Vernon is making it more expensive to park it, too.

Beginning May 1, metered parking spaces will require payment for an additional two hours per day. Drivers will have to feed meters from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The extension is expected to bring the city an extra $400 to $600 per day, said Nichelle Johnson, Mayor Ernie Davis’ chief of staff. Mount Vernon’s meters are active six days a week. Without counting holidays, the extended hours could add $187,800 a year to the city’s coffers.

Mount Vernon is facing a $4 million deficit, a spending gap officials are scrambling to fill.
